This scratchpad, dealing with the leaf- and stemmining moth families Nepticulidae and Opostegidae was started around 2010 by Erik van Nieukerken, Naturalis Biodiversity Center.

We aim at filling it with all aspects of Nepticulidae and Opostegidae, mainly taxonomy and classification, comprising information on all species, including literature, distribution, descriptions and lots of media. It was initially filled with previously published descriptions of several species, and country distribution maps.

On 31 October 2016 the new classification replaced the previous one, and was at the same time published in a paper (Van Nieukerken 2016) and in the Catalog of Life. At this point we launched version 2.0.

Due to some technical errors from the past, the distribution maps are not correct at this date, we are working on restoring the full maps.
